Leeds United's impressive home league streak of over a year without defeat came to an end on a wet afternoon at Elland Road with a 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
The luckless nature of the defeat was emphasised by the fact that both Tottenham goals, scored by Mathys Tel and Mohamed Kudus, deflected off Whites defender Pascal Struijk before finding the net.
Leeds' sole goal came from Noah Okafor, who tapped home after Guglielmo Vicario parried Brenden Aaronson’s shot.
The Whites, who have now collected four points from their last four games, struggled to convert their chances.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed an early opportunity, and in the second half, both he and Okafor were inches away from converting a low cross.
After Kudus’s deflected 58th-minute goal secured the win for Tottenham, Leeds tried to force a second comeback with a series of substitutions, including bringing on Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe, but Tottenham managed to weather the attacks.
The result means Leeds have eight points from their first seven matches, having now played three of their 12 matches against Champions League teams.
