In a surprising move, Arsenal's executive vice-chair, Tim Lewis, has left the club as part of a major boardroom restructuring.
Lewis, who has served as a key figure since joining the Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) group in 2007 and was appointed executive vice-chair in 2023, played a critical role in the club's recent successes, including a significant spending spree during the last summer transfer window.
Stan and Josh Kroenke will maintain their roles as co-chairs, while Richard Garlick, the former director of football operations, will take on the new position of chief executive.
Garlick, who previously held senior roles at West Brom and as the Premier League's director of football during the Covid-19 pandemic, is highly regarded for his calm and professional demeanor.
The club has also brought in Kelly Blaha and Otto Maly from KSE as non-executive directors, alongside producer and passionate Arsenal supporter Ben Winston.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, expressed his sadness over Lewis's departure but conveyed his full confidence in the new leadership structure and the owners' long-term vision.
The timing of Lewis's exit has come as a shock to many, especially given his recent achievements and influential role in Premier League politics.
The manager also provided a brief update on the team, confirming that captain Martin Odegaard has not trained due to a shoulder injury but could still be available for the upcoming match against Manchester City.
