Sean 'Diddy' Combs, 55, was handed a 50-month prison sentence by Judge Arun Subramanian after his July conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, also known as the Mann Act, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years per count.
The disgraced mogul was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, which could have led to life in prison.
Prosecutors had sought over 11 years, while the defence argued for a lenient 14-month term.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Subramanian addressed Combs, stating his 'crimes and abuse of his ex-girlfriends warranted 50 months in prison,' and emphasized that the 'serious offences' had 'irreparably harmed two women'.
The judge called a letter from the defence attacking a victim 'inappropriate' and read victim impact remarks into the court record after one victim withdrew her planned statement.
The chaotic eight-week trial featured graphic testimony about drug-fueled 'Freak Offs' and physical abuse, including a viral video showing Combs beating his ex, Cassandra Ventura, in a hotel hallway.
Combs, who was emotional and subdued, mouthed 'I love you, I’m sorry' to his family after the sentence was delivered.
His attorneys had argued he should be released in weeks, having served 13 months already, and presented a video compilation and speeches from family and advocates arguing he was a changed and sober man.
