A recent NPR-Ipsos poll reflects public uneasiness over such measures, finding that only 35 percent of American adults agreed with allowing federal officers to make immigration-related stops with fewer restrictions.
The survey, conducted from September 19 to 21 with 1,020 American adults, showed a 3.2 percent margin for error, indicating a clear lack of broad public support for the kind of increased federal presence and authority being pursued by the Trump administration.
