Cinnabon, the American bakery chain famed for its iconic cinnamon rolls, has announced the complete closure of all its UK outlets.
The decision marks the end of the brand’s four-year presence in the UK market, where it once operated around 20 stores across major cities including London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
The closures were implemented abruptly, with customers in some locations finding handwritten notices informing them of the immediate shutdown.
EG On The Move, the UK operator that partnered with Cinnabon, stated that the closures are part of a strategic decision to refocus on its core convenience retail business.
The company expressed gratitude to staff and loyal customers for their support, acknowledging that the decision was difficult but necessary for the long-term health of the business.
Cinnabon entered the UK market in 2020 with ambitious expansion plans but struggled to gain the same traction it enjoys in the United States, where it operates nearly 1,000 locations.
Industry analysts suggest that increased competition from other bakery and coffee chains, rising operational costs, and shifts in consumer spending contributed to the brand’s struggles.
Despite the closures, EG On The Move says it remains committed to offering innovative food experiences across its 150-site network.
Fans of the brand may still be able to enjoy its signature products in select supermarkets or through online delivery partnerships in the future.
