French First Lady Brigitte Macron and her husband, President Emmanuel Macron, have filed a new lawsuit against US political commentator Candace Owens, accusing her of defamation over a continuous campaign of 'demonstrably false' conspiracy theories.
The Macrons' latest complaint targets Owens' claims that the First Lady, under the name 'Jean-Michel,' allegedly participated in the notorious 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment.
This is in addition to the highly publicised and bizarre theory that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman whose true identity is Jean-Michel Trogneux.
The complaint states that Owens, who has built a brand on provocation and sensationalism, knowingly published these claims for the sake of 'fame' and profit, arguing it is not the ‘pursuit of truth’ that motivates her but the desire to ‘inflame and attract attention.’ Owens’s podcast has been a major platform for these theories, with her latest claims also seeking to link Brigitte Macron to the CIA’s MKUltra mind control program and a criminal syndicate involved in identity theft, forgery, and murder.
The French couple argues that Owens’s statements have subjected them to a campaign of ‘global humiliation,’ turning their lives into fodder for ‘profit-driven lies.’ Owens, who has millions of followers on X and YouTube, is accused of routinely peddling misinformation under the guise of legitimate reporting, with the lawsuit asserting her content is not intended to inform but to ‘inflame’ through sensationalism.
The Macrons are seeking legal redress for the extensive personal and reputational damage caused by the dissection of their appearance, marriage, family, and friends.
