Storm Amy, which has broken several records and brought winds up to 96mph in some parts of the UK, has caused significant disruption to air travel, particularly at Gatwick Airport.
As of 1:30 pm BST on Saturday, a total of 153 flights to and from Gatwick were delayed due to the weather, according to flight tracker FlightAware.
The disruption at Gatwick comes as the UK is warned to brace for more widespread chaos over the weekend.
Weather warnings for wind and rain are in place across most of the country, excluding the east coast.
The north of Scotland faces an amber warning, with gusts expected to exceed 90mph.
The severe weather has led to widespread transport cancellations, with ferries and trains halted up and down the country.
Numerous roads have also been closed in both directions due to significant debris blown onto the carriageways by the high winds.
Storm Amy’s intensity has been exceptional, with Baltasound recording a pressure of 947.9 hPa, provisionally the lowest October pressure ever recorded at a UK land station.
Authorities are urging the public to heed the yellow and amber wind and rain alerts in place across the UK and anticipate further travel difficulties.
