Fahad Al Enaze, a 31-year-old asylum seeker from Kuwait, has avoided immediate jail time after he was caught trawling underage children online and sending explicit sexual messages to an undercover investigator.
Al Enaze, who is housed in a taxpayer-funded migrant hotel in Liverpool, was targeted by the vigilante group Widnes Parents Against Predators in September of last year.
Appearing at Warrington Magistrates' Court, Al Enaze admitted to trying to engage in sexual communications with a minor.
The prosecutor, Chelsea Kearns, detailed how Al Enaze sent sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old decoy child and continued to ask for photos despite the decoy stating their age.
He asked explicit questions, including whether she liked sex, and claimed he could ‘teach her everything.’ Upon his arrest, the asylum seeker told officers, “I didn’t know I was doing anything wrong.” The court heard the seriousness of the offence, with JP Paul Chadwick telling Al Enaze, “You are very lucky today not to go to immediate custody.
In this country we take these offences seriously.
You should be truly ashamed of yourself.” He was handed an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for 24 months, along with 300 hours of unpaid work and 25 days of rehabilitation.
In addition, Al Enaze was issued a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offender register for ten years, and was ordered to pay £272 in costs and a surcharge.
The sentencing comes amid ongoing protests in Liverpool against the use of hotels to house asylum seekers.
