An emergency response from Derbyshire fire crews on Tuesday evening successfully rescued a 10-year-old boy from a residential property fire in the Derby suburb of Chester Green.
Firefighters from the Nottingham Road and Kingsway stations were called to reports of the blaze on Road at 6.49pm.
Upon arrival, a spokesperson confirmed that crews immediately found smoke issuing from the first floor of the property, indicating a significant fire.
The attending crews acted swiftly, using breathing apparatus to enter the house and rescue the ten-year-old boy, before tackling and extinguishing the fire using a hose reel jet.
Following the successful suppression of the blaze, the fire crews remained on site to ventilate the property, a crucial step to clear the smoke and make the scene safe.
In a positive outcome, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The fire service departed the scene at 7.44pm, handing the site over to Derbyshire police to conduct further inquiries into the cause of the fire, which is not yet known.
The timely and decisive action of the emergency services ensured the safe rescue of the child and prevented a more serious incident.
